New York-born Vocal Artist Nancy Scimone performs with orchestras, jazz and classical ensembles. An accomplished soprano, her live solo performance credits include the Kennedy Center (Atrium Concerts, Open House, and the Washington Opera) and solo concerts at Manhattan’s St. Peter's CitiCorp Center Series, the Liederkranz Club and Eastside house concerts, Boston's Berklee Performance Center, and touring with her original music through the Midwest, Philadelphia, New England, New York, Toronto and a 10-venue Chicago tour. She performed a TV broadcast before a live audience of 17,000.

Her performances of American songbook standards include the Washington, DC area venues Twins Jazz Club, Smithsonian’s National Zoo ZooFari, Old Town Alexandria Lyceum, Col. Brooks Tavern (guest vocalist with the Federal Jazz Commission), St. Elmo's Cafe with the Not So Modern Jazz Ensemble, the Potomac River Jazz Club (guest vocalist with Ben Mauger's Vintage Jazz), private parties and house concerts, and jams with bands such as the Peter Edelman Trio at Columbia Station.
Other Washington venues include Lisner Auditorium in an all Bernstein program, Army Navy Country Club, the College of William & Mary, Georgetown University, the John Paul II Cultural Center and countless solo performances in cathedrals and museums. Her Festival work includes the Bar Harbor Maine Music Festival and Maryland Shakespeare Festival. She has recorded jazz arrangements of her original songs with members of The Presidents Own, and her original music is heard on radio.
A Washington Area Music Assoc. (WAMA) nominee for 'Best Classical Vocalist' (the award went to Placido Domingo,) her classical musical foundation in voice and piano serves her ability to work with professional musicians of all genres. The Washington Post defined her as "warm and enveloping," and "with winsome elegance."
Nancy's formal education includes the Berklee College of Music, and a B.A. in Literature from The American University. She has studied songwriting with Jason Blume and Pat Pattison, and vocal technique with Patricia Miller (Ms. Miller's father was a trombonist with the Duke Ellington Band) and Pierre Vallet (Metropolitan and Paris Operas) with whom she has performed solo concerts in New York City. Her fluid three-octave range lends grace and excitement to both jazz and classical songs. Nancy writes her own charts, reads music, and sings in French and Italian.
