Learning to sing at an early age, Chris appeared in local church and high school productions in the small town of Norton where he ws raised. Eventually he put together a demo tape of his own songs which made it's way into the hands of California business man and New Brunswick native Peter Leggett. Leggett was so impressed with the young man's talent that he moved the music division of his company to Nashville so that he could personally supervise Chris' career.
Chris was soon signed to a development deal by Warner Music Nashville at the incredibly young age 0f 17. "I was called out of high school math class for a message from Warner Brothers" remembers Chris. "I actually thought that one of my friends was playing a prank on me, but I called the number and it really was Warner Brothers. They flew me down to Nashville, we had a meeting and the next week I was on the Ralph Emery Show. It was that fast."
From there Chris started recording material in Nashville under the direction of Warner Label President Jim Ed Norman. It was soon realized that Chris had talent beyond the scope of a development situation and Nashville writer/producer Rick Scott was brought in to begin working on a full blown album project.
Canada first took notice of their native son in the fall of 1995 when the first single and video "I Waited" was released. It immediately established Chris, landing in the Top 5 on the radio and video charts. As his first album on the Warner Brothers label entitled "Somewhere Inside" was released in stores, Chris earned his first #1 radio and video hit with his next single and video "Sure Enough", and from there the hits just kept on coming, including "Somewhere Inside" (Top 5 Radio and #1 on CMT), "Amost Always" (Top 5 Radio) and his second #1 hit "The Kind Of Heart That Breaks". His next chart-topping single will be "Minute And A Half".
Along the way he was nominated for a Juno Award for Country Male Vocalist, a Canadian Country Music Award for Wrangler Rising Star, an East Coast Music Award for Male Country Artist and was awarded the RPM Big Country Music Award for Outstanding New Artist of 1997.
Chris also had the chance to develop his live show while opening shows for such artists as: Terri Clark, Martina McBride, John Michael Montgomery and Garth Brooks.
If all of that wasn't impressive enough, Chris is a gifted songwriter, co-writing seven of the ten songs on his album including all of his hits. He regularly gets the opportunity to write with Nashville's finest, and one of his proudest accomplishments is that his first Nashville writing experience was with the legendary Mac McAnally.
