After a long, satisfying career with the successful band Shenandoah, a critically acclaimed duo album with his brother, and a solo gospel album, Marty Raybon strikes out with his first solo country, self-titled album. "The music on this album is like vintage Marty Raybon music that’s been brought in to the year 2000," says the talented music veteran. "It doesn’t sound like Shenandoah. It doesn’t sound like the Raybon Brothers, and it’s not gospel. It’s fresh sounding and I believe that we got really lucky with the material we found. The songs are great. " Raybon knows a great song when he hears one. As lead singer of Shenandoah, Raybon’s stellar voice made hits of songs like "I Want To Be Loved Like That", "Two Dozen Roses", "If Bubba Can Dance (I Can Too)", and "The Church On Cumberland Road." In 1997, Marty and his brother, Tim, released the smash hit single "Butterfly Kisses" as the Raybon Brothers. The single sold over 500,000 copies in the first week. The Jacksonville, Florida native says he knew he would be an entertainer since he was eight years old.

"I sang ‘The Battle of New Orleans’ in a talent show and that was it," Raybon recalls. "There are three different times in my life when my intuition told me that I was going to do this for a living. The first time was that talent show. The next time was when I was about 15. I was out in the front yard raking leaves and I was listening to the radio on my sister’s car. All of a sudden, this song came on called ‘I Won’t Be Left Lonely Looking Out My Window Through the Pain.’ I stopped raking and I went over there and sat down by the car and listened to it. When the song was over the disc jockey said, ‘That’s Mel Street with his new song.’ I thought ‘Man, what a tremendous song. That is what I want to do. I want to make people feel that way.’ I sat there in awe. "The third time I was about 20. I was in Greenville, Alabama cleaning a brick house and I said to myself, ‘Lord, I’d give anything in the world if you let me be a country music singer.’ I knew then that’s what I was going to do." And Raybon couldn’t be happier about the latest turn in his illustrious career.
