Blackfoot

Blackfoot was formed by childhood friends in 1969 in Jacksonville, FL. The band relocated to New York City in March of 1970, later moving out to New Jersey where they quickly gained a loyal following and remained until the end of 1971. With gigs drying up, Rick Medlocke left for Fla to help their old friends the One Percent (later renamed Lynyrd Skynyrd) record demos in Muscle Shoals. A few months later, Greg T. would joined the Skynyrd line-up to record what would one day be called Skynyrd's First and....Last, with other tracks apperaring on future LS albums. Missing former bandmates and feeling the urge to get back to what he started, Greg T. parted company, bringing Medlocke along to reform Blackfoot in 1972. Though two minor hiccups occured during the next year, Blackfoot was back together for good in 1973, moving once again to the Tri-state area up north.

Blackfoot's debut album "No Reservations" was released in 1975 on Island Records to critical acclaim, but sales were short of expectations. Moving to the CBS label Epic, "Flyin' High" was released in 1976 and gained the band more national exposure and popularity. For the next three years, inccessant touring with groups like Nugent, KISS, Frampton, ZZ Top and many others landed the group a deal with Atco and 1979's release of "Strikes" became Blackfoot's first Gold, eventually Platinum record spawning their first hit singles "Train Train" and "Highway Song". This also earned a Grammy nomination.

Following with 1980's "Tomcattin'", "Marauder" in 1981, "Highway Song Live" recorded in Europe in 1982, Blackfoot established themselves as one of the premeir arena acts in the United States and Europe. "Siogo was released in 1983 (with Uriah Heep's Ken Hensley on keyboards) and saw the addition of former AXE lead guitar/lead singer Bobby Barth into the band. "Vertical Smiles" followed in 1984 and the group continued to tour America and Europe until disbanding Feb, 1986.

Far from being over, members Spires, Hargrett, Walker and Barth continued to write, record and work in various combinations on each other's solo releases, playing on and producing numerous CD's and commercials garnering Obie Awards and Nammy nominations.

Since the band reformed in 2004, they have once again regained their place in the concert market. Sharing stages with some of the worlds biggest acts and headlining some of the largest outdoor festivals in America, Blackfoot was voted "best band of Sweden Rock Fest 2005" and headlined the UK's "Rock 'N' Blues Festival" to 42,000 fans, as well. From their appearance at the 2005 record setting "Moondance Jam", following up with a headline performance to 60,000 fans at "Delmarva" and Sanford's 'sold out' Biketoberfest, there is no doubt what Blackfoot will deliver in 2006....
