Not since the first albums by Sara Evans and Lee Ann Womack have I heard a country release as striking and fresh as Heather Myles' Highways & Honky Tonks. . . . Not to put too fine a point on it, Myles has more brass than a hardware store, and she boldly steps out with this big, swaggering assemblage of stone country."
--Chet Flippo, Billboard
With the 1998 release of Highways & Honky Tonks, Heather Myles is poised to take center stage on the contemporary country music scene. With a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, a killer voice, an exciting live show, and a knack for penning irresistible, hook-laden songs, Heather is the breath of fresh air country music has been waiting for.
Heather Myles grew up on a ranch in Riverside, California in the 1960s and '70s. Her family raised thoroughbred horses, and Heather had a job galloping racehorses, until the lure of the honky-tonks called her away.
Wyman Reese of the Lonesome Strangers produced a demo tape for her which attracted the attention of Hightone Records, who gave her two tracks on their 1990 Points West sampler. That release was followed by two studio albums on Hightone, 1992's Just Like Old Times and 1995's Untamed, and a 1996 live record, Sweet Little Dangerous, on Demon in England. Throughout the decade, she and her band, the Cadillac Cowboys, toured tirelessly, garnering a rabid following among both traditional country and roots rock fans throughout the U.S. and in Europe and England. When she wasn't wowing them in the clubs, she was often opening arena shows for artists like Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Ricky Skaggs, Charlie Daniels and Ronnie Milsap.
In 1998, she was signed by Rounder Records and released her fourth album, Highways & Honky Tonks, which includes ten new Myles compositions, one of which is a duet with Merle Haggard.
When she's not on the road, Heather enjoys raising horses, collecting vintage cars, riding her Harley, and sailing off the California coast.
