Dick Clark
Since founding dick clark productions in 1957, Dick has been instrumental in spearheading the production of some 8,500 hours of television programming, including television series and specials, theatrical and television movies. The company has an extensive library of thousands of classic and contemporary rock 'n' roll performance clips in our media and music archives. The library continues to build every year, and serves as an important source of content for the company's use for new show and series development. In recent years, Dick has expanded the company into important new business areas, capitalizing on the company's trademarks, positive image, and reputation for quality. Among these businesses are the dick clark communications subsidiary and a restaurant operation. Dick began his entertainment career in Utica, NY, where as a teenager he announced news, weather, and station breaks for WRUN radio. After graduating from Syracuse University, he became a news anchor for television station WKTV. In 1952, he moved to Philadelphia where, four years later, he became the host of WFIL-TV's Bandstand program. One year after he began hosting the show, he convinced ABC to take it nationwide, renaming it "American Bandstand", which still holds the record of the longest-running music variety show in television history. Both Dick Clark and American Bandstand became and still remain household names across the country. Dick has now made a long-term commitment to dick clark communications and feels strongly that the successful company that bears his name is a natural to service the varied communications needs of the corporate world.
