When you speak about the living legend of country music, you can't overlook Stonewall Jackson. The story of his career measures up to the most unusual fictional accounts that writer could imagine, but it's all true!

Born in Tabor City, North Carolina, the youngest of three children, he lost his father when he was only two years old. His mother decided to move to south Georgia other brother-in-law's farm where the opportunity for work seemed better. Because time were hard, the family hitchhiked to Georgia. After years of hard work on the farm, Stonewall changed his birth records and joined the army at age 16, but when the army discovered what his real age was, he was released. However, at age 17 he joined up with the navy. During the time he was in the navy, he learned how to play a guitar and sing. By the time he received his discharge in 1954 he had decided that country music was to be his career...

Stonewall drove to Nashville in his pickup truck, and went to audition for Wesley Rose of Acuff-Rose publishing company, when Wesley Rose heard him sing, he called his friend "George D. Hay" at the Grand Ole Opry and sent Stonewall down to W.S.M. to the "Solemn Old Judge". Stonewall became the first and only unknown artist ever signed to the Opry roster, but with his natural singing ability he soon landed a recording contract with Columbia records, and became a overnight Star...

"Life To Go", became his first number one smash in 1959 and the next year he followed with a classic "Waterloo" and was #1 Pop and Country. These were just the first of many number one hits including, "I Washed My Hand in Muddy Water" "BJ the DJ" "Why I'm Walkin" "A Wound Time Can't Erase" "Don't Be Angry" "Me And You And A Dog Named Boo" just to name a few.

Through the years, Stonewall (his real name by the way) has traveled from coast to coast to entertain thousands of true country music fans, He's also entertained those same fans as a regular member of the world famous Grand Ole Opry for over 40 years. His travels have been world wide, with tours in Canada, England, Germany, etc...

Back in November of 1996 Stonewall Jackson celebrated his 40th year on the Grand Ole Opry. Stonewall was overwhelmed with the special surprise that awaited him backstage at the Opry. Martin Guitar presented Stonewall with a new Herrin Bone D-18 guitar for his contribution to country music. Also, Stonewall was presented with an award from the Country Gospel Music Association for the song "Jesus Is My Lifeline" which had broken all previous chart records in the Music City News/Gospel Voice Magazine by staying at #1 for over 4 months. Stonewall wrote the song and sang a duet of the song with Country Gospel Artist Don Richmond.

July 25, 1997 Stonewall Jackson was presented with another very special award. While on stage of the Grand Ole Opry, Stonewall was presented with the Fourth Annual Ernest Tubb Memorial Award for his outstanding contributions to the country music industry. Grand Ole Opry announcer Eddie Stubbs presented a stunned Stonewall Jackson with the award.

Stonewall Jackson doesn't see much difference between the shows he did 40 years ago and stepping on the stage now...

Stonewall perform with his band named "The Minutemen" all across America and tours the highway's in his custom built Silver Eagle Bus.

Stonewall's popularity is still growing, more and more of the public is enjoying the unique Stonewall Jackson style. His music is still a great seller, even in today's market.

Stonewall and his wife Juanita live in a comfortable farm like atmosphere in Brentwood, Tennessee overlooking a 9 acre lake. His son Stonewall Turp Jackson Jr. functions as Stonewall's manager and as the drummer in the band.

Stonewall believes his talent is a religious gift, and should be handled as such. His Christian ethic dominates his life both on and off the stage.
