He is a devoted husband and father, as the PGA of America acknowledged in choosing the Floyds as the 1994 Golf Family of the Year. Ray and Maria live in Palm Beach, Florida, and have three children: son Raymond, Jr. is on a golf scholarship at Wake Forest University, son Robert is a professional golfer on the NIKE TOUR, and daughter Christina is a freshman at Wake Forest University.
His image is one of integrity, intensity and excellence. The qualities that made him a legendary golfer also have made him an ideal spokesman for a select group of prestigious companies. He has brought to these corporate affiliations the same professionalism that has earned the respect of his fellow competitors and golf spectators throughout the world.
Floyd has also demonstrated his talent in the golf course design business, and has more than a dozen projects to his credit. To every project he brings his knowledge of shotmaking and his feel for blending holes to create a design strategy that yields a challenging and memorable golfing experience.
Most recently, Floyd has restored Doral’s "Blue Monster". He used his skill as an architect and his experience as a long time Doral Open participant and champion to maintain Dick Wilson’s intent and design philosophy for Doral. The restoration has received excellent reviews by the players during the Doral/Ryder Open.
