Nadia Turner, the talented and diverse artist with the big hair, and the great set of pipes, "wowed" millions of viewers around the world with her beautiful, sultry voice, and unique sense of style every Tuesday on American Idol FOX TV 4th Season. Nadia made it to the top eight finalists of more than 100,000 contestants.

Nadia Turner was born and raised in Miami with unique American, Caribbean and European roots. Her mother is Dutch Caribbean, born in the Netherlands Antilles and her father is originally from Richmond, Virginia. She is the first of three daughters, all musically inclined. She is also the baby to three older sisters from her father's side.

Unlike most people, Nadia knew exactly what she wanted to do from birth. She started singing when she was about five years old, however it wasn't until the age of seven when her mother noticed that Nadia was comfortable in front of an audience and would sing for anyone, anywhere.

Nadia won her first trophy at age eleven in the Betetees Sorority talent show. She won her first pageant at age fifteen singing in the Miss Martin Luther King, Jr. pageant. She continued to compete in many other talent driven pageants in the U.S. and the Caribbean including the Miss Florida International University Pan African Pageant, Miss Carnival Queen St. Eustatius, PJD St. Maarten, Miss Carnival Antigua, BWI, Miss Nectar, St. Eustatius, Netherlands Antilles.

Nadia was named after Nadia Comaneci, the first gymnast to score a perfect 10 in the 1976 Olympics. Her mother said she knew that Nadia was a special gift from GOD because it snowed in Miami for the first time the month and year Nadia was born. Nadia personifies all that is South Florida, from her love of soca, meringue and reggae music, to bowling and roller-blading.

Music has always been her first passion and her second is drama. She attended arts-driven schools in Miami from elementary through college. She attended Florida International University. In one of her most memorable performances, she played the Talking Head in "Colored Museum" and she also played in "The Company" at FIU Playhouse. She played Ophelia in "Shakespeare's Hamlet" at Miami Beach Arts Playhouse and played the leading role in "A Woman's Blinders" at Knodic Sterling Production.

With a track record consisting of breathtaking performances at several beauty pageants in the Caribbean, singing a tribute to Harry Belafonte at the Waldorf Astoria in N.Y., to entertaining us on MTV's "VJ for a Day", singing her heart out on VH1's "Born to Diva", many might say she is born to be a star. However, one performance that she holds most dear to her heart is when she sang to President Clinton and seven world leaders at the G8 Summit in Okinawa, Japan.

Nadia loves all types of music. Some of her musical influences include a variety of artists ranging from Jimmy Hendrix, Roberta Flack, Prince, and The Eagles to Billie Holiday. Many including Simon Cowell have referred to her as a young Tina Turner. As a former Dolphin Cheerleader she also sang the National Anthem for both Miami Dolphin and the Miami Heat games.

Nadia leads worship and sings in Tool Box, a Christian Rock/Soul Band in the Miami Music Ministries and worked nights at Oxygen lounge in Coconut Grove before competing on American Idol. She enjoys hanging out with family and friends, taking black and white photography, skating, and bowling.

Since her exit as the top eighth finalist on American Idol FOX TV, she was the first idol to be invited on the Ellen Degeneres. She was also on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and the Tony Danza Show. She attended The White House Correspondence Dinner as a guest of the Christian Broadcasting Network where she rubbed shoulders with the Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Nadia was a guest for Vogue Screening Party and she hosted various Coco Cola Tours, FOX Local News on Channel 7, with Louis Aguirri.
