Singer, songwriter Sista Monica Parker is one of the hottest contemporary female blues recording artists on the global music scene today. She is currently hitting the stage in support of her third and most realized CD "People Love The Blues" on Mo Muscle Records. The CD features many distinguished guest artists including rockin' guitarman Jimmy Thackery, courtesy of Blind Pig Records, Dan Caron and Ruth Davies, formerly of the Charles Brown Band, and Detroit's quintessential bluesman Larry McCray.
This 14-track CD is complete with powerful vocals, uptempo and funky shuffles, emotional blues ballads and energy that grabs you from the first track "You Got to Pay." It features the world class Sista Monica Band and is produced by Danny B., her longtime piano and Hammond B3 organ player and Sista Monica herself. Drummer Ron E. Beck and Noel Catura contribute production assistance on horns and vocals, and Sammy Varela lays down his blusey guitar licks. Most of the material on this latest effort is original and comes after recovering from the death of her tenor saxophonist of three years Ken "Big Papa" Baker (a 15-year veteran with John Lee Hooker). Skylark, once a part of the original Sista Monica Band, returns to offer his funky, low-down bass, in between his touring with the Doobie Brothers.
