As the principal voice of CBS Sports, Jim Nantz will serve as anchor for THE NFL TODAY along with Marcus Allen, Brent Jones and George Seifert.
Jim Nantz was the primetime host of CBS Sports' coverage of the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan. He previously hosted CBS Sports' weekend daytime coverage of the 1992 and 1994 Olympic Winter Games in Albertville, France, and Lillehammer, Norway.
Nantz has also anchored College Football Today, the PGA Tour and The Masters, and is the lead play-by-play announcer for NCAA basketball, including the Final Four and championship game. In addition, he will serve as a contributor to CBS News.
Jim Nantz joined CBS Sports in 1985 as host of the network's college football studio show. He was named lead play-by-play announcer for college basketball in 1990, and has called regular-season and NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship coverage since then.
Nantz has handled play-by-play at the US Open since 1988. He also served as the lead play-by-play announcer for the network's coverage of college football in 1989, 1990, and 1996, and as play-by- play announcer for the NFL from 1991 to 1993.
Jim Nantz, a regular golf announcer for CBS Sports since 1986, assumed the anchor position for the network's golf coverage in April 1994. He has hosted the network's coverage of the Masters since 1989 and the PGA Championship since 1990. His other host duties have included the network's college football studio show, as well as the Cotton Bowl (1985-88), and the Heisman Trophy Award show (1986-88). Nantz co-hosted the NCAA basketball tournament coverage and hosted the NCAA Final Four and championship games (1986-90).
Nantz graduated in 1981 with a degree in radio/television from the University of Houston, where he played on the golf team. While at Houston, he held a variety of broadcasting jobs which led to sportscaster positions at the city's KHOU-TV and KTRH radio stations. Nantz was the anchor for CBS affiliate KSL-TV in Salt Lake City and also broadcast Utah Jazz basketball games.
Jim Nantz was born May 17, 1959, in Charlotte, N.C., and grew up in Colts Neck, N.J. He and his wife, Lorrie, have one daughter.
