After the success of 'M*A*S*H' and 'Brewster McCloud', having solidified her working relations with one of the greatest directors of our time, Robert Altman, she concentrated on compiling as many quality, but diverse motion picture acting roles as possible. Films she has starred in include 'A Little Romance' with Sir Lawrence Olivier and Diane Lane, directed by George Roy Hill; 'Last Of The Red Hot Lovers' by Neil Simon with Alan Arkin; 'Rafferty And The Gold Dust Twins' again with Alan Arkin; 'Slither' co-starring with James Caan, directed by Howard Zieff ('Private Benjamin'). She Played Rodney Dangerfield’s love interest in the 100 million dollar hit, 'Back To School'. She was Jodie Foster’s Mom in Adrian Lyne’s ('Flashdance', 'Fatal Attraction') first film, 'Foxes', produced by David Putnam. Sally has performed in all genres from comedy to adult drama, and is equally at home in film as well as stage. She played Katherine Hepburn’s role in 'Holiday', with Kevin Kline at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles for three months. Then she went 180 degrees in the opposite direction and played in the hip, camp, and very successful 'Women Behind Bars' at the Roxy Theatre. And, of course, her resume wouldn’t be complete without a stage musical, and, like everything else, her experience was quite special. She was Mary Tyler Moore’s stand-by in the David Merrick and Abe Burrows Broadway Musical 'Breakfast At Tiffany’s'. According to the Wall Street Journal, Sally is 'The most sought after voice-over actress in the country'. Listening to a Hidden Valley, Woolite, Clairol or Volvo commercial when Sally’s talking it is like hypnosis, directing the person to the nearest store. The National Association of Recording Artists Society (NARAS) recognizing this aspect of her career, together with her varied and exciting musical career in movies, T.V., stage, records, ect. Asked her to host their luncheons for the past two years, honoring such luminaries as Natalie Cole, Johnny Mathis, Jerry Moss and Joe Smith. In the NARAS program, they describe her as the 'Voice of America'. As a singer, she has been recording and performing live for over twenty-five years. She was signed to a recording contract at the age of eighteen by Verve Records. She has been produced by several of the most highly respected record producers in the business. Her album, 'Roll With The Feeling', a blues-rock album, was produced by Gene and Billy Paige. Bobby Womack produced five soul tracks for her use in the motion pictures, 'Boris and Natasha', based on the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. She was produced by Paul Rothchild (who produced Janis Joplin) singing her forties repertoire, and in Nashville, Jerry Crutchfield (Lee Greenwood, Tanya Tucker, ect.) moved her into Country-Western. She cut several tracks in Muscle Shoals and Barry Manilow produced a number of Pop songs. She has sung in several of her motion pictures. In 'Verna USO Girl', made by PBS, co-starring Sissy Spacek and Bill Hurt, she sang ten songs from he Forties. She sang two songs written specifically for her by Burt Bacharach, in the famous film musical extravaganza remake of 'Lost Horizon' co-starring Liv Ullman, Peter Finch, Charles Boyer, John Gielgud, etc.. She sang the Pop-Country Bellamy Brothers hit, 'I’d Lie To You For Your Love'. In the movie 'Limit Up', she sand on camera the blues version of 'Black Coffee' with Ray Charles following her with a sax number. She sang a Country-Western song in 'Rafferty And The Gold Dust Twins'. She toured the country for several years with a live pop-rock show with Musical Director Bob Esty (who produced and wrote Cher’s 'Take Me Home' album, and worked with Barbra Streisand, Donna Summer, ect.) playing in fifty cities. On Network Television, Sally played Dempsey’s wife in the motion picture, 'Dempsey', co-starring Treat Williams and sang two completely produced songs, which is quite unusual for a T.V. movie. As host of 'Saturday Night Live', she sang a fully-produced version of a Dolly Parton song. Hosts had never been allowed to do musical numbers on the show prior to that. She was asked to sing live on the NBC Democratic Telethon that aired approximately five years ago, and put together with Earl Brown an exciting original medley of 40’s War Bond songs. Because of her abilities and accomplishments, she was offered a singing/variety show on Network Television by Fred Silverman. She was also offered her own musical/variety show in Canada. Sally has sung hundreds of times on talk shows, including Johnny Carson, Joan Rivers, Merv Griffin, and even sang with Gladys Knight and the Pips on their Variety Show. In January, 1992, a most gratifying recognition was paid her when the Motion Picture Academy and Tri Star/Columbia Home Video produced a home video for sale all over the world of the best moments in Oscar Telecast History (1971-1992) and Sally’s singing performance the same year she was nominated, was chosen for this video. In 1991, after taking a year-and-a-half off, following the birth of her baby twins, Sally returned to work to star in a USA Cable Network movie 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' and put together an act that is the most eclectic, electric, hot, cool, original, entertaining showstopper anyone has seen in many years. Its audience appeal is phenomenal as proven by its six-month run as only a work-in-progress, with no advertising or publicity. She did the same thing with a different show for three months in the summer of 1989 at the Cinegrill. In her current act, Sally brings together her depth of experience in all media, tying them together with songs of all genres. This format, which brings out her wit, humor, style and surprises, is integrated with her soulful, unique, vocal style and range. This Sally Kellerman show is like nothing you have ever seen.
