Eternia
Hip Hop artist Eternia has graced the cover of Toronto’s “The Eyeopener”, Vancouver’s “Terminal City”, and Sydney Australia’s “Homebase”. All three magazines had one thing in common: they saw in Eternia a fiery commitment to succeed and growing star potential. If Eternia’s unrelenting drive and incomparable skill is any indication, it will not be long before the rest of the world scrambles for the coattails of this lyrical phenomenon. Meet Canada’s answer to: ‘Who’s Got Next?’ For twenty-three years Eternia has contributed to the positive musical vibrations around her. Born to parents who were extremely musically inclined, she began performing in church as a toddler, and continued throughout her teens. At age eight she was introduced to the culture that would captivate her for life: Hip Hop. Eternia started reciting lyrics, and before long, she was scribing her own extraordinary material. However, it was just a hobby until 1994, when she decided to take emceeing seriously from local stages to radio stations - no microphone has been safe ever since. Eternia has tightened her skills in street ciphers, studio sessions, and live shows. She’s rocked rhymes from crowded subway cars in the Bronx, to ciphers outside of the Nuyorican Poet's Cafe (Manhattan), to street corners in Philadelphia. Eternia has performed at a variety of N.Y.C. venues including Wetlands, S.O.B.’s, Bowery Ballroom, and Baby Jupiter. She’s also graced cities in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Michigan, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. In Canada, she’s rocked crowds and rhymed on campus radio stations from Ottawa, Ontario all the way to Vancouver, British Columbia. In 2003, Eternia extended her musical experience overseas, where Australia proved to be fruitful ground for her vivacious lyrical passion. Eternia’s first songs were recorded in Brooklyn, with the tri-state super-group “the DemiGodz” (including Atlantic Records recording artist Apathy). From there she would go on to make numerous guest appearances on records across northern U.S.A., Canada, and Australia. In 2001, Eternia was officially introduced to the Toronto Hip Hop scene with the anthem “What We Gonna Do”, accompanied by cohorts MC Collizhun and Adversaree the N.M.E. In 2002, she released her solo promotional track “Work It Out” (as heard on Toronto’s FLOW 93.5). But it would undeniably be “Sorrow Song” that placed Eternia in the national spotlight, with support from Videofact, Much Music, Universal Music Canada and Phem Phat Productions. Still in the beginning stages of her career, Eternia is juggling full-time broadcast journalism and sociology studies at Ryerson University, while pursuing her musical passion. As an emcee, Eternia's focus is potent content, along with innovative lyricism, delivery and style. Eternia is determined to eternally make music that uplifts, entertains, and enlightens her listeners... “from local to the universe”. Accomplishments: Featured single on the first Hip Hop compilation to be released by a major recording label, Warner Music, in Australia with the song “Movin” (with A-Love). Nominated in 2003 for ‘Best Independent Urban Artist’ at the Canadian Independent Music Awards. “Sorrow Song” music video featured in medium rotation on Much Music (Much Vibe), MTV Canada, Rage TV (ABC Australia), and exclusive video shows in the U.S.A. Featured in North American print publications such as Vice, Pound, Peace, Word, Eye, The Toronto Star, the Ottawa Sun & Terminal City, and featured in Australian print publications such as 3DWorld, Scene, Play, and Time Off. “Sorrow Song” (original version) featured on Canada’s first all female urban compilation, Honey Drops, released by Phem Phat Productions/Universal Music Canada and the video version released on FLOW 93.5 FM’s “Soul On Ice” compilation CD. “Work It Out” and “Sorrow Song” enjoyed continuous airplay support from Canada’s leading commercial urban music stations, Toronto’s FLOW 93.5 FM and Vancouver’s The Beat 94.5, as well as heavy support from campus radio shows across Canada and the U.S. “Work It Out” and “Sorrow Song” featured on national Australian radio shows, Triple J (Hip Hop Show) and SBS Alchemy, as well as supported on local stations in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Sydney. Guest appearances with artists such as: Apathy (Connecticut), Freestyle of the Arsonists and The Atomz Family (NYC), The Actual Facts (New Jersey), Unknown2Scientz (Toronto), Kia Kadiri and Ndidi Cascade (Vancouver), and Maya Jupiter, Trey, A-Love, and Prowla (Australia).
