One of the most widely recognized and admired sports commentators in the country, James Brown (more familiarly known as "JB") is co-host of "FOX NFL Sunday," an informative and entertaining hour of football coverage. Since its inception ten years ago, "FOX NFL Sunday" has enjoyed the largest viewing audience of any NFL pre-game show. JB has hosted the show for its entire run.

JB's sports and entertainment career spans more than two decades. He joined FOX Sports in June 1994, following ten years with CBS Sports. Among the highlights of his hosting assignments are three Super Bowls, the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France and the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, the NBA finals, ten years of NCAA tournament coverage, and the NHL pre-game show. While at CBS he was also co-host of "CBS Sports Saturday/Sunday," a weekend anthology series.

In recognition of his accomplishments, JB has received numerous awards for broadcasting excellence including 1998 and 1999 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Studio Host for "FOX NFL Sunday." He was the 2002 recipient of the International Black Broadcasters Association's Broadcasting Excellence Award and was chosen as 1999 Sportscaster of the Year (Studio Host) by the American Sportscaster Association.

He was also awarded the Golden Mike Award (1998) by the Black Broadcasters Alliance, two NATAS Emmys (DC chapter) including the Glenn Brenner Award for excellence in sportscasting (1998), and the Quarterback Club of Washington's Sportscaster of the Year Award (1996).

Today, in addition to co-hosting "FOX NFL Sunday" with four-time Super Bowl winner and Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw (along with studio analysts Hall of Fame player Howie Long and two-time Super Bowl winning coach Jimmy Johnson), JB hosts "The James Brown Radio Show," broadcast weekdays from 10 am-noon (ET/PT) on Sporting News Radio. He is a reporter/correspondent for HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" and a boxing host for PPV, the pay-per-view division of Time Warner Sports (HBO).

In addition to sports programs, JB has hosted a number of entertainment shows, among them FOX's "World's Funniest!" the weekly show of home videos from around the world, and "America's Black Forum," a nationally televised, Emmy Award-winning program providing news and opinions targeted to the African-American market.

JB got his start in sportscasting in his hometown of Washington, DC doing color commentary/analysis and eventually moving to play by play for the NBA Washington Bullets (now known as the Wizards) for Home Team Sports. Early in his career, he hosted a mid-day program on WTEM, an all-sports radio station, co-hosted two weekly Washington-area sports programs, was sports anchor for the early newscasts at WUSA-TV for five years, and hosted "James Brown's Pro Football Preview" for SportsFan Radio.

Before moving into sports and entertainment, JB was a successful and award-winning sales executive for eight years at two top Fortune 50 companies - Xerox and Eastman Kodak.

Using his experience and accomplishments as inspiration, JB is a widely respected motivational speaker. He has hosted motivational series alongside numerous luminaries outside the sports arena - including former President George H. Bush, Anthony Robbins, General Norman Schwarzkopf and Harvey Mackay. And corporations such as IBM, Oracle, Eastman Kodak, Office Depot and MBNA have engaged JB to present motivational speeches to employees on topics ranging from fundamentals for success and leadership to skills for high-level performance.

In addition to his sports and entertainment achievements, JB is particularly proud of his extensive and ongoing commitments to a variety of community and national causes. Of special note are his activities in support of Darrell Green's Youth Life Foundation, on the Board of Directors for the The Marrow Foundation, Ronnie Lott's All Stars Helping Kids, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Spokesperson for the Neimann Pick Disease Foundation, and HollyRod Foundation. He is also a National Celebrity Volunteer for the March of Dimes.

Recognizing his significant contributions to The Marrow Foundation, JB was awarded the National Marrow Donor Program's 2002 Grant Hartley Diversity Award - given for outstanding leadership in building awareness of the need to diversify the donor Registry and/or recruitment efforts that diversify the Registry. He is the 2001 recipient of the National Diversity Award (Diversity Best Practices and Women's Network First Annual Awards Ceremony) which is awarded to an individual who has "helped unite the many faces, colors and minds that make up the diverse world in which we live and work."

JB received a B.A. in American Government from Harvard University. A talented athlete himself, he played basketball for Harvard, where he earned All-Ivy League honors for three years and was captain of the team during his senior year. In 1996 he was named to the Harvard Hall of Fame for his athletic accomplishments. Following graduation from college, JB was selected as a fourth-round draft pick by the NBA's Atlanta Hawks and a seventh-round pick by the Denver Nuggets.

At DeMatha High School (Hyattsville, Maryland) JB was ranked one of the top five high school players in America during his senior year. He was named a High School All-American for both his junior and senior years and was Washington Metropolitan Area Player of the Year his senior year. Before ultimately deciding on Harvard, he was heavily recruited by legendary coaches Dean Smith of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and John Wooden of UCLA. He remains committed to and supportive of both of his alma maters.

JB lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with his wife Dorothy. He has one child, a daughter Katrina.
