Lyle is probably the only career English professor with a degree in aeronautical engineering as well as graduate study in communication. Known as the "Funny Prof" on the professional speaking circuit, he is the author of six books: two writing texts, two collections of his poetry, memoirs of his classroom encounters, "After-Words", and a biography of deaf-blind Richard Kinney, now being produced on stage.
