Martin Mayer has been writing about business and financial subjects for forty years. During the 1960's, he also wrote widely on education matters. He served on the President's Panel on Educational Research and Development in the Kennedy and Johnson administrations and was a member of the National Commission on Housing for Ronald Reagan. He is currently a guest scholar at The Brookings Institution. Mayer's latest book, The Bankers: The Next Generation, was published in January 1997.
