Ron Chernow holds degrees in English literature from Yale and Cambridge universities. His articles on business, politics, and history have appeared in more than forty national and regional publications.
His celebrated first book, The House of Morgan, won the National Book Award for nonfiction and the Ambassador Award for best book on American culture. The Warburgs was awarded the Columbia Business School's George S. Eccles Prize for Excellence in Economic Writing and was cited as one of the year's twelve best nonfiction books by the American Library Association.
His recent collection of essays, The Death of the Banker, was named a Notable Book by The New York Times, which said in its review that the author was " as elegant an architect of monumental histories as we've seen in decades." Titan: The Life of John D. Rockefeller, Sr., was published to great acclaim by Random House in 1998, and was a main selection of the History Book Club, and a featured alternate of the Book of the Month Club. It appeared on The New York Times bestseller list for sixteen weeks.
Mr. Chernow is a regular commentator on National Public Radio and many other radio and television programs. His op-ed pieces appear frequently in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and other leading publications. He lives in Brooklyn Heights with his wife, Valerie, a sociologist and teacher of foreign languages.
