Hollywood, CA – A&R Select, Hollywood’s hottest indie A&R firm, has great news for fans of the newest member of the A&R Select roster.
Rock act Wilba’s Ashes of Somerville, Tenn., has shared the exciting info that a new album will be hitting the streets in August or September of this year, offering up yet another piece of evidence that this is superstardom in progress.
The key to the band’s flight to success, says band member Craig Yates, is “hard work, perseverance, never saying die and realizing you’re never too old to learn something new.” Says Yates, this determination and refusal to be bound by expectations has had a lot to do with the crowd-winning music created by Wilba’s Ashes.
The group has played the Country Music Marathon 2007, hosted the 2007 Fayette County Battle of the Bands and the bassist for Wilba’s Ashes played the BoDog Battle of the Bands with his group Chemical Zoo, which achieved finalist status.
Wilba’s Ashes is at work putting together a touring schedule for the fall and are hard at it creating music for the forthcoming album.
The band began as the collaboration of a trio of best friends along with the unexpected contributions of unanticipated but very much welcome musician Kathleen McGrath. “She’s a really hot singer,” says Yates.
Each member brought his or her own musical influences and ideas. “Our goal is to finish this CD, keep writing (which is a daily activity) and hopefully make it grow to the next level.”
Each and ever person in Wilba’s Ashes has his or her collection of musical “battle scars” but a passion and love for music keeps them dedicated, according to Yates. “Remember that feeling you got when you first started playing an instrument?” asks Yates. “You did it out of love for music, nothing else. You had no idea what it was like to be in a band or play a live gig. The thing that drove you was the rush you got when you played that instrument.”
